Vida Education is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and highly regarded secondary school in Preston to recruit an experienced Attendance Manager.

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, with the successful candidate initially joining the school through Vida Education before moving onto a permanent contract following a successful period of supply.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attendance, pastoral or inclusion professional who is passionate about improving school attendance and supporting young people to achieve their full potential.

Working closely with senior leaders, pastoral staff, parents and external agencies, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining a positive attendance culture, ensuring early intervention and removing barriers to learning for students at risk of persistent absence.

The Role

As Attendance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating the school’s attendance provision.
  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting on attendance data.
  • Identifying pupils at risk of persistent or severe absence and implementing effective intervention strategies.
  • Building positive relationships with students, parents and carers to improve attendance.
  • Carrying out home visits where appropriate.
  • Working collaboratively with pastoral staff, senior leaders and external agencies.
  • Supporting students returning to school following periods of absence or alternative provision.
  • Preparing attendance reports for senior leaders and governors.
  • Promoting a positive whole-school culture where attendance is recognised as everyone’s responsibility.

What We’re Looking For

We are keen to hear from candidates with experience in attendance, pastoral, safeguarding or inclusion within schools or similar educational settings.

Essential

  • Experience working with children and young people in a school, education or pastoral setting.
  • Previous experience in attendance, pastoral, inclusion or education welfare.
  • Experience working directly with parents and carers to improve pupil attendance.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyse attendance data and implement effective intervention strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • A calm, resilient and professional approach when managing challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Desirable

  • Experience leading attendance initiatives or whole-school attendance strategies.
  • Knowledge of statutory school attendance guidance.
  • Experience working with external agencies.
  • Experience carrying out attendance-related home visits.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.

  • FTE Salary: £32,061 – £36,363.
